Pike County BOE approves personnel actions

The Pike County Board of Education approved a request to employ a principal at Pike County High School at its Monday meeting.

The board approved Dr. Charles Corbitt, Jr. to replace Willie Wright.

Crobitt is currently the principal of PASS Academy in Dothan.

In other personnel action, the board also approved the request to employ Hannah Clifford as assistant principal at Pike County High School, therefore, removing her interim status.

In new business, the board:

•Approved modification to the 2020-2021 school-year calendar, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

•Approved the Public Works Project to re-roof the top section of the gym at Pike County High School and authorize Dr. Mark Bazzell, superintendent, to award the bid to begin the project this summer.

•Approved Public Works Project to pave the parking lot and road at Pike County Elementary School and authorize the superintendent, to award the bid to begin the project this summer. The awarding of the bid is contingent on assistance from the City of Brundidge.

•Approved the installation of bleachers in the gym at PCHS using the state bid list.

•Awarded the bid for Pest Control for the Child Nutrition Program to Meeks Termite and Pest Control for the 2020-2021 school year.

•Approved the request for the Child Nutrition Program to continue serving breakfast and lunch as part of the seamless summer feeding program at Pike County Elementary School, Goshen Elementary School, Meeksville and Springhill, pending approval from the State Department.

•Approved permission to surplus and dispose of old and broken technology on spreadsheet.

In other personnel action, the board:

•Approved the request to employ Kimalin Hobdy, Child Nutrition Manager at Goshen Elementary School.

•Approved the request to employ Staci Oliver, fifth-grade teacher at GES.

•Approved the request to re-employ Alyce Calvin, math teacher at GES.

•Approved the request to re-employ Thurston Lee, Health teacher at PCHS.

•Approved the request to re-employ Keri Hobbs, PE teacher at Banks.

•Approved the request to re-employ Kimberly Kersey, Special Education Teacher at GES.

•Approved the request to re-employ Barbara Sellers, first-grade teacher at GES.

•Accepted the resignation  of Nathan Brawner,  welding teacher, TPCT.

•Accepted the resignation of Tyler Logan, band director at Goshen High School.

•Accepted the resignation of Angela Thomas, kindergarten, GES

•Accepted the resignation of Taylor Gore, kindergarten, GES.

•Accepted the retirement resignation of Loretta Reynolds, teacher, PCES.

•Approved the transfer of Sarah Toney from GHS to GES for the 2020-2021 school year.

•Approved the transfer of Angela Gibson from GES to GHS for the 2020-2021 school year.’
