Youngsters and the young at heart will enjoy Saturday’s “Touch a Truck” event in Downtown Troy.

The second annual event takes place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

“It was cold and raining for last year’s Touch a Truck event, and we still had a really good crowd,” said Leigh Anne Windham, of the City of Troy. “The weather for Saturday is going to be warmer and partly sunny, so we are expecting an even larger crowd.”

A variety of trucks and vehicles will be at the event, including a tow truck, concrete mixing dump truck, garbage truck, Troy Police patrol unit, Troy Fire Department rescue truck, Troy Fire Department ladder and fire engine, and a tractor, among others.

Participants include Jacob’s Towing, Southern Concrete, Todd Floyd Contractors, Troy Police, Troy Fire and City of Troy Utilities Department.

“The trucks will be located in the parking lot next to Byrd Drugs,” Windham said. “On the Square, we’ll have inflatables, games, demonstrations and visits with Troy Police Departments Sgt. Routon and the bomb dog, Insta.”
