Troy Elementary School Assistant Principal Dr. Joanna Taylor has been named the Alabama Association of Elementary School Administrators 2019-2020 Assistant Principal of the Year.

“This is a tremendous recognition and honor for Dr. Taylor and everyone at Troy Elementary School,” said TES principal Teresa Sims. “On behalf of the students and staff of TES, I would like to congratulate Dr. Taylor and express our gratitude for her hard work, dedication to excellence, and love for every child she serves.”

Each of the 10 districts in AAESA nominates a representative for this award. District nominees must then submit an application to be reviewed by the state selection committee. Taylor will be recognized at the Council for Leaders in Alabama Schools summer conference in Montgomery.

Taylor said the honor truly goes to the school as a whole.

“Going through the application process, a lot of it talks about what does the school value educationally? How do you reach all kids?” Taylor said. “A lot of what I talked about is the great work that the teachers are doing at TES. It’s neat that the organization honored that work of our school as well.”
