Troy Fire Capt. Chris Lowery was honored Friday at The Studio as he retired after 23 years of service with the department.
“When I think of home, it’s Troy,” Lowery said “It’s been a privilege to work in Troy and retire here. I’ve had some great memories working with the fire department and have made lifelong friends that I’ll always remember. It just hit me today; things run though your mind, all the calls I’ve been on. It’s hard on the family being away fro 24 hours every third day – that’s why I’m retiring, to spend more time with them.”
Chief Michael Stephens said the department is proud of what Lowery has accomplished but is sad to see him go.
“We didn’t want him to retire, but we’re proud for him and his family,” Stephens said. “Chris brought a lot of experience and knowledge every day. Any time you lose something like that, it leaves a void. It’s a special thing to work for your city. He’s done an excellent job for us.”
