The Pike County Relay for Life is kicking off soon and an interest meeting Thursday night at the Recreation Center is a great place to start.

“This is an opportunity if anybody wants to form a team, they can come and pick up information and learn how to register,” said Megan Kirkland, coordinator of the Pike County Relay for Life.

The meeting will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Troy Recreation Center board room and will be an informal chance for interested parties to come by and get any information they need. Light refreshments will be provided at the meeting.

“Any business or organization that is interested in forming a team is welcome to come and do that,” Kirkland said. “Whether you want more information on Relay for Life, the services provided through the American Cancer Society or if you’re interested in being on the committee – if you’ve ever had any question about relay tomorrow a great night to come.”

The relay itself will be held in April, butt he next few months will be filled with teams hosting events and fundraisers to raise the money for the American Cancer Society to further research towards finding a cure and helping to improve treatment.

The relay traditionally includes the selection of a caregiver and survivor of the year and a celebration of cancer survivors.

“We would love to have a successful year in 2020,” Kirkland said. “We can’t do it without you.”
