The Draw Down is an event of the Colley Senior Complex Mardi Gras Gala on February 8 at Cattlemen Park.

Catherine Jordan, complex director, said the Mardi Gras Gala Draw Down is an annual fundraiser for the Colley Senior Complex and also a fun-raiser for the community.

“The Draw Down will be an exciting and suspenseful event at the Gala,” Jordan said. “Tickets are $100 and that’s not a lot for a chance to win a lot of money. Some friends and co-workers go in together to buy a ticket.  Either way, it’s fun to know you have a chance to win. And, the funds raised go for such a good cause, our senior citizens.”

The Mardi Gras Draw Down tickets are available at the Colley Senior Complex at 715 Elm Street in Troy. For more information, call 334-808-8500.

Jordan said each ticket purchased supports the programs and activities at the Colley Senior Complex.

The senior center offers more than 30 programs designed especially for senior adults and also day and overnight trips throughout the year.

“No matter what the interest, we have something for all our senior adults,” Jordan said. “We have classes in painting, stained glass, pottery, needlework. We have every kind of exercise class except boot camp.”

The senior center has classes in computer, filing tax returns and instruction on how to use those iPhone Christmas gifts.

“If our seniors need to know how to do something, we have someone who can show them,” Jordan said. “A lot of our seniors like to play table games. We have a variety of entertainment and informational programs throughout the year.

“But, most of all, at the Colley Senior Complex, we share a lot of love. The complex is a home away from home. It’s a place where ‘everybody knows your name’ and there is always something to do and someone to do it with.”

Jordan said one lucky Draw Down ticket holder will go home from the Mardi Gras Gala with a pocket full of money. But, every ticket purchased will support the existing programs at the Colley Senior Complex and open the doors for new adventures for senior adults.
