The Troy Arts Council’s whirlwind weekend got underway Friday night with its 2020 membership event and will continue at 3 p.m. Sunday with ARTrageous at the Trojan Center Theater on the campus of Troy University.

The TAC membership event brought arts patrons from throughout the community together in support of the arts council and its outstanding 2020 calendar of events.

Bill Hopper, TAC president, said he and the council were pleased with the response from the community and the excitement surrounding the events calendar.

The TAC’s plan was to get off to an early start on the packed, yearlong events’ calendar. Patrons and the public are invited to the kickoff event, ARTrageous, at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Claudia Crosby Theater on the campus of Troy University.

Troy Cable is the corporate sponsor of ARTrageous, which is an 11-member traveling artist trope based in New Mexico.

But, ARTrageous is not the kind of group that you just sit and watch,” Hopper said. “They will have the audience on its feet or singing and dancing in the seats.

“ARTrageous is a family performance. It’s as much for the kids as it is for senior adults and as much for adults as it is for teens.”
ARTrageous will performed interactive vignettes that include singing, dancing, live music, puppetry and painting.

“The audience will sing while the troupe members paint and recreate paintings by the masters using black light,” Hopper said. “ARTrageous will be like no other show the Troy Arts Council has presented and most likely like none many of us have seen before. ARTrageous will be a fun afternoon of art and more.”

The Troy Arts Council and Troy Cable invite everyone to take advantage of this opportunity to spend a Sunday afternoon with family, friends and neighbors and have fun going on an interactive journey of art, song, dance and storytelling.

Tickets will be available at the door at $20 for adults and $5 for students.  There will be a table for purchasing TAC season tickets that will include ARTrageous. Season tickets begin at $100. The number of tickets included will depend on the level of membership.
