For many around Troy and Pike County, the ringing in of the New Year is secondary to the Colley Senior Complex Mardi Gras Gala.

Catherine Jordan, complex director, said the Mardi Gras Gala is an extremely popular and highly anticipated annual event and already the tickets for the February 8, fundraiser for the Troy senior complex are hot items.

“The tickets will go fast because we have another great Mardi Gala planned at the Pike County Cattlemen’s building,” Jordan said. “The band, ‘City Heat’ will be back by popular demand. ‘City Heat’ is a 12-piece band from Atlanta. They have three vocalists and they will keep playing as long as people keep dancing.”

Jordan said 2020 is her eighth year as director of the Colley Senior Complex and each Gala has gotten better and better.

“And, this year’s will be the best of them all,” she said. “The music will be fabulous, the decorations will be fabulous and the food, catered by A Catered Affair is always amazing and the fellowship tops it all off. It’s exciting just thinking about it all.”

The Mardi Gras Gala is reserved seating only with corporate and reserved tables.

“The corporate tables seat10 and are $1,300,” Jordan said. “The corporate tables are close to the dance floor and that’s a perk. The corporate tables also have Mardi Gras souvenirs and are featured in Troy Life magazine and receive other publication recognition.”

And, Jordan said, all tables have a chance to win $10,000 in a drawing.

Reserved tables seat eight and are $600.

Jordan said those who attend the Mardi Gras Gala enjoy the community-wide fellowship and have so much fun dining and dancing that they don’t want to leave.

“The gala is from 7 until 11 p.m. but ‘City Heat’ will not leave dancers on the floor,” Jordan said. “They’ll just keep playing and as long as we keep dancing.”

Jordan expressed appreciation to all those who work to make the Gala a great event and to all those who support the Gala which is the major fundraiser that supports the many and varied programs and activities the Colley Senior Complex offers to the senior community.
