Police have identified a suspect in the murder of a Troy man found dead Wednesday in his home.
Shane Shemar Dunlap,24, also known as Shane Smith, is wanted in connection with Scott’s death.
Troy Police released a photo of Dunlap Wednesday as a person of interest in the suspicious death of Willie Charles Scott, 58, of Troy. He is now charged with capital murder in the case.
Dunlap is 5’11” and weighs approximately 185 pounds. He is not from the Troy area, police said.
“Dunlap should be considered armed and extremely dangerous,” said Troy Police Chief Randall Barr.
Police are still searching for Scott’s missing vehicle, a red 2003 Saturn Ion bearing Alabama tag 55AY701.
Officers responded to the Scott’s residence on Wednesday shortly after noon and found Scott deceased inside the home, which is in the 22000 block of U.S. Highway 231.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Shane Shemar Dunlap is asked to contact law enforcement immediately or contact Crimestoppers at 334-251-STOP (7867).
The Troy Police Department is being assisted in this investigation by the Pike County District Attorney’s Office, the Pike County Coroner’s Office and the Alabama Department of Forensic Science.
