Troy City Schools hired John Gluschick Monday as the new head baseball coach at Charles Henderson High School.

Gluschick has been a head baseball coach for the past 13 years, coaching four state championship teams at Lowndes Academy and Sweetwater. He has also coached at Brewbaker Tech magnet school, Montgomery Academy and most recently at Brookwood in Tuscaloosa.

“I’ve had a great career mostly because of having so many good players,” Gluschick said.
“That makes things a little bit easier when you have guys like that. One made it to the major leagues and several are playing in college right now. But coming to Troy is like coming home for me and I’m looking forward to getting started.”

CHHS Principal Lise Fayson said Gluschick’s resume jumped out with his postseason success as well as his interview.

“What stood out to me was that he said winning will take care of itself when we’re winning the right way and building young men,” Fayson said. “That’s a huge plus.”

Gluschick is replacing former head coach Matt Whitton, who resigned from the position in October to return home to coach at Enterprise.

Several CHHS players stayed back at the end of the meeting to meet their new head coach and introduce themselves.
