The opportunity is now.

It is possible to have your meal delivered to you and, at the same time, assist the 17 local agencies supported by the Pike County United Appeal.

Melinda Conner, PCUA secretary, said Maurice Merser, owner of Kats Delivery, is lending his support to the Pike County United Appeal by participating in the round-up program through December 31.

“Through the round-up program, Maurice will donate the rounded-up dollar amount of each delivery to Pike County United Appeal,” Conner said. “We are very appreciative of his support and what it will mean to our fundraising campaign that supports 17 agencies that provided services to the citizens of Pike County.”

Merser said he is proud to support the Pike County United Appeal and to offer the round-up opportunity to his customers.

“This is a way for Kats Delivery to be more involved in the community,” he said.

Merser, a graduate of Troy University, said the idea for his delivery service originated in Birmingham in 2011.

Mercer said his mother was sick and had difficulty getting groceries. After his mother’s death, he began to seriously consider a food delivery business. In 2014, he opened a food delivery business in Birmingham.

In 2019, he was honored as the Small Business of the Year in Birmingham and is a nominee for Alabama’s Small Business of the Year.

“Now, in Troy, I wanted to become more involved in the community and appreciate the opportunity to support the Pike County United Appeal through the round-up program,” Merser said.

Merser said when an order is delivered to a customer, the customer will have the opportunity to round up their bill to the nearest dollar. If the customer choses to do so, that amount will be donated to the Pike County United Appeal.

“Kats Delivery will also match a portion of the donations up to $100,” Merser said.

The delivery fee depends on the distance from the restaurant to the destination, beginning at $1.99.

“We deliver about 20 miles from the Troy City limits,” Merser said. “We appreciate the support we have received here in Troy and look forward to being a supportive part of the community.”

Conner said the Pike County United Appeal encourages those who take advantage of Kats Delivery to round up to the nearest dollar and support the 27 local agencies that are supported by the PCUA. Orders may be placed at katsdelivery.com.
