Troy Recycles Day offers free services to residents

Published 9:24 pm Thursday, November 7, 2019

Troy Recycles Day is right around the corner, offering residents a one-stop shop to recycle a variety of items from batteries to metal to document shredding.

The annual event, brought together by the City of Troy and Keep Troy Beautiful, will be held at the Lowe’s parking lot from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2019.

“This is a one-stop free recycling drop-off event for anyone in our community for our regular recyclables, electronics, donatable household items and a range of extended recyclable items which are not included in the city’s regular recycling service throughout the year,” said Melissa Sanders, executive director of Keep Troy Beautiful. “We encourage everyone to participate,” Sanders said. “We will have volunteers on site to direct participants where to go and to help them unload and dispose of recyclables to make it easy to recycle or donate at this event. Recycling conserves our natural resources, saves money, creates jobs, reduces litter and junk, eliminates waste in landfills and reduces harm to the environment. We are thankful of our partners and volunteers. Without them, this event wouldn’t be possible.”
