The We Piddle Around Theater in Brundidge has found its way into the “Cooking with Paula Deen” magazine.
However, members of Brundidge Historical Society’s storytelling committee were not aware the annual Chili County Christmas event was one of two winter events highlighted in the popular food magazine.
“But it was a pleasant surprise and an unexpected honor,” said Cathie Steed, committee member. “That someone thought our Chili Country Christmas worthy of recognition and for it to be in Paula Deen’s magazine is very much appreciated.”
The Chili Country Christmas features homemade chili served family style, old time music and stories as told around the supper table.

“I signed the release and returned it but I don’t know how the magazine knew about the Chili Country Christmas,” Enfinger said. “It’s always a great event and my experience has been, if you go to the Chili Country Christmas once, you’ll want to go again and again.”
The 2019 Chili Country Christmas will feature “The Dill Pickers,” a vocal string band from Birmingham,” Steed said. “The Dill Pickers are outstanding musicians, vocalists and all around entertainers that can make you laugh and also put a lump in your throat.”
The We Piddle Around Theater’s Chili Country Christmas traditionally features nationally acclaimed storytellers and bluegrass, gospel and old-time musicians along with the theater’s “secret” chili recipe and all the trimmings plus dessert.
This year’s Chili Country Christmas will be December 6 at the We Piddle Around Theater in Brundidge. For more information, call 334-685-5524 or 670-6302.
