Caleb Dawson has announced his intent to run for the District 4 seat on the Troy City Council in the 2020 municipal election.
“I’m running for Troy City Council in District 4 because strong public schools are critical to our community’s future,” Dawson said. “The Troy City Council is making decisions now that will affect our kids, our families and our community for decades to come. Troy deserves leaders who are committed to the energetic pursuit of an open, inclusive process for making those decisions. During my two years of service as president of the Troy Elementary School PTO, I have come to appreciate the value of the positive change that is the result of community members working together. We will thrive when we recognize the relationship between our young people’s success in the classroom and our community’s potential for economic growth.”
Dawson said he has a vested interest in the city school system as he has two children currently enrolled at TES.
In addition to serving as the TES PTO president, Dawson also works as a furniture designer. He attends St. Mark’s Episcopal Church with his wife Elizabeth, daughter Josephine and son, David. Dawson serves as a junior warden at St. Mark’s as well as a member of the jail ministry team.
“I have had success leading groups of people from diverse backgrounds in businesses of all sizes,” Dawson said.
