PCBOE recognizes board members for state achievements

Two members of the Pike County Board of Education were recognized at Monday’s board meeting for 2019 AASB School Board Member Academy Achievements.

Dr. Greg Price achieved Master 6th Year achievement and Justin Davis received Level 2 certification by the Alabama Association of School Boards.

Board Member Linda Steed received Master’s Honor Roll achievement in a previous year.

The board members discussed and approved several new business requests including a request for Vivian B. Adams School to park its bus on the inside gate of the bus shop and designated requests for out-of-state and/or overnight requests.

In personnel action, the board:

• Accepted the resignation of Anthony May, assistant principal at Goshen High School.

• Accepted the resignation of Sandra Trotter, third grade teacher at Goshen Elementary School.

• Accepted the resignation of Kelvin Larken, bus driver.

• Approved request to employ Taylor Gore, kindergarten at Goshen Elementary School, pending graduation in December, 2019.

• Approved request to employ Jon Sanders, third grade teacher at Goshen Elementary School, pending graduation in December 2019.

• Approved request to employ Laken Davis, kindergarten teacher at Pike County Elementary School, pending graduation in December.

• Approved request to employ Jeremy Arrick, physical education aide at Pike County Elementary School.

• Approved request to employ Patrick Oswald, special education teacher at Goshen Elementary School.

• Approved volunteer status for Kim Faulkner, mentor at Goshen Elementary School.

• Approved volunteer status for Davis Martin, mentor at Goshen Elementary School.

• Approved volunteer status for Melanie Sneed, mentor at Goshen Elementary School.

• Approved volunteer status for Elizabeth Johnson, track at Goshen High School.
