Students in all grades took the opportunity to time travel on Tuesday back in time and experience the wonder of yesteryear.

Angie Grice, PLAS assistant headmaster, said the students enjoy the dress-up days which are a part of Homecoming Week.

“On Tuesday, the students dressed as characters from the past and some dressed individually and others in groups,” Grice said. “The younger students chose TV characters like the Flintstones. The some of the older boys chose Egyptians and Romans and while the girls preferred the Roaring ’20s. Everyone had a good time.”

PLAS Homecoming Week 2019 will continue today with “Back to the Future” as the theme.

“The students will dress as characters from the ‘Back to the Future’ movie or in space themes,” Grice said. “We expect to see Marty McFly, The Jetsons, robots and students in futuristic clothes.”

Thursday will be Homecoming T-shirt Day and Friday will be Red, White and Blue Day.

“’Family Tailgate Time is from 4:30 until 7 p.m. on Thursday and that is a special time for PLAS families to gather,” Grice said. “We invite families to tailgate on campus. Bring tents, grills, picnic baskets, blankets and chairs and your family’s favorite snack dinners and enjoy all the activities we have planned.”

The team dinner will be at 5:30 p.m. in the cafeteria and the parade lineup will be a 6 p.m. with the “Bash ’em, Bust ’em, Beat the Eagles” parade at 6:15 p.m.

“Due to the statewide fire ban, we have replaced the traditional bon fire with a car demolition,” Grice said. “Students with a ticket will follow the team in taking a turn with a sledgehammer.”

A “Glow in the Dark Rally” will follow the demolition derby.

Friday will feature the Homecoming Assembly at Dwight Ward Field at 9 a.m. The junior class will then host a reception honoring the PLAS Class of 2020 and their parents, all homecoming nominees and their escorts and SGA officers.

The Homecoming Pep Rally will be a 11 a.m. Kickoff of the PLAS vs Fort Dale Academy game will kick-off at 7 p.m. Presentation of 2019 Homecoming Queen and Court will be a halftime. The PLAS Homecoming Dance “Dancing Through Time” will be in the school cafeteria from 10 p.m. until the clock strikes midnight.”
