Troy hosts cruise-in Saturday on the Square

The City of Troy will host its fourth Cruise-In this Saturday on the Square for car lovers to show off their prized vehicles.
Unlike a typical car show, the event is not judged and car owners are not required to pay a fee to enter their vehicles. The event is also free and open to the public.
“Because we don’t charge anything or register for the event, we never know how many cars are going to be there until the event because they just show up,” said Leigh Anne Windham with the City of Troy.
But the cars always show up – the event has grown each time the city has hosted it and car owners have raved about the “laid-back” nature of the event.
“The participants have said multiple times how the Square is such a perfect set-up,” Windham said. “Of course there’s the parking, and then they can sit under the big trees on the Square and enjoy visiting with each other. If you take time and talk with the owners of the vehicles, it’s very interesting to know the process they go through in restoring them and you’ll also find that some of them have photos with them of when they acquired the vehicle to where it is now.”
And with some of the vehicles belonging to the current owners for decades, there are plenty of stories to tell to.
While participants are looking at the cars – from classic hot rods to modern sports cars – there will also be plenty more fun to have on the Square. Lenny Trawick and friends will provide music and Windham encouraged residents to enjoy the surrounding shops and restaurants to make it a day downtown.
The event begins at 10 a.m. and ends at 1 p.m.
