Covenant Christian School was a-buzz with activity on Wednesday as the school opened its doors and began a new school year. The fourth-graders in Jennifer Sanders’ class chose one word to describe their feelings about being back in school. Most students said they were “excited” and “happy” to be back in the classroom. Others felt a bit “shy” at being among new classmates while others said they were “inspired” to learn and do new things. Getting back together with “friends” after summer vacation was the reason for all the big smiles. And, to a one, the students said, they are “ready” to be back at Covenant Christian School.

Amanda Hardin’s first-grade students scurried up the stairs to the learning adventure that awaited them there. They all agreed, even though summer vacation had been fun, it was great to be back in school with friends. Sissy Roberts is especially looking forward to this school year. Another little girl will be in her first-grade class, bringing the number of girls to two.

Candace Murphy, school administrator, said Covenant Christian School is an extraordinary place of learning with classes for pre-K 3 and up through fifth/sixth grade.

Classes are small and intimate. CCS provides its students high academic and behavioral expectations, equality and a solid biblical foundation and also a fine arts and athletic curriculum, Murphy said.

“We’re all excited to be back a CCS and looking forward to a great school year,” she said.
