Car theft suspects arrested

Troy police have arrested two juvenile boys on charges of theft and burglary.

The two boys, ages 16 and 17, both escapees from the Alabama Department of Youth Services, reportedly attempted to flee police after being spotted near Woodland Hills Apartments.

Woodland Hills Apartments around 11 a.m. Wednesday,” said Troy Police Chief Randall Bar. “The Toyota Tundra was stolen out of Phenix City. When officers spotted the juveniles, both jumped out of the truck and fled on foot. After a foot pursuit the 17-year-old was apprehended and taken to the Troy Police Department. The 16-year-old was taken into custody a couple of hours later on U.S. Highway 29 near Dunbar Drive. Both of these juveniles have confessed to multiple burglaries and the theft of several vehicles not only from our jurisdiction, but from multiple jurisdictions.”

Local law enforcement officers are working with authorities in other jurisdictions to secure charges. Both juveniles have been returned to the custody of the Alabama Department of Youth Services. Both will be scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
