Bivins to inspire at ‘Each on reach one’ Saturday

Dr. Michael Bivins will come home to Brundidge Saturday as a featured motivational speaker at the “2019 Each One Reach One Celebration.”
The celebration will get underway with a Main Street parade at 10 a.m. Immediately following the parade, Bivins will join motivational speakers, Shakira Gray and Lydia Mardenborough, on stage for a time of inspiration, encouragement and a call to community by each one reaching one, said Karen Rouse, committee and publicity chair.
“Dr. Bivins has been with the Urology Centers of Alabama since 2002,” Rouse said. “His particular clinical interest is Robotics. He performs robotic prostatectomy and other procedures related to his specialty.”
Bivins is a graduate of Pike County High School. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in microbiology from the University of Alabama. He completed his medical education at the University of Alabama School of Medicine, his internship in general surgery at Vanderbilt Medical Center and his residency in urology at the University of Oklahoma. He completed a clinical fellowship in urology oncology at the University of Washington.
Bivins received his board certification from the American Board of Urology in 2004. He was elected to the 2008 Class of Leadership Birmingham. He has authored several papers and been involved in multiple clinical trials.
Bivins is active in the community and resides on the boards of the Jefferson County American Cancer Society and the YMCA. He is also a retired member of the United States Air Force Reserve.
Special music for the event will be by The Joiner Family. Other activities will include a bake contest, free haircuts for boys and giveaways including backpacks, school supplies, socks and shoes.
Each One Reach One will be held on the grounds of Brundidge City Hall.
