Brundidge celebrates Independence Day

More then 75 representatives from counties across South Alabama joined local residents and businesses in celebrating the nation’s independence by participating in the Independence Day Parade Saturday in Brundidge.
The patriotic parade is sponsored annually by the Brundidge Business Association. Brundidge Mayor Isabell Boyd expressed excitement at the opportunity to welcome the large number of young community representatives and their families to Brundidge.
“These young ladies represent their communities as the Miss and Little Miss winners in their local pageants and will participate in the National Peanut
Festival in Dothan in the fall,” Boyd said.
Georgia Galloway, our Miss Brundidge, and, Lulu Thompson our Little Miss Brunddige,, were the hostesses for the Queens’ tea following the parade.”
Boyd said the city ‘s Independence Day Parade is an opportunity to show pride in community and country.
“We have a great country and a great community,” Boyd said. “We thank all of those who participated in the parade and those who came to wave flags and cheer those on parade.”
