Fifty-years ago, a tired and weary Edge Memorial Hospital staff took a minute or two to take a deep breath. Since early that morning, they had been transporting patients from Edge and Beard hospitals across Troy to the new hospital that would provide up-to-date medical care to the people of Troy and Pike and surrounding counties.
On Wednesday, Troy Regional Medical Center will celebrate 50 years of dedicated service with a 50th Anniversary Celebration at 1 p.m. at the medical center.
All those whose lives have been touched by the services provided by TRMC are invited to join in the celebration of the past, present and future for healthcare in the extended Pike County region.
Karen Herring, TRMC director of marketing, said TRMC’s mission has not changed over five decades and remains even stronger today than it was then.
“Our mission is to provide exceptional care in a compassionate environment that attends to the emotional, physical and spiritual needs of our communities,” Herring said. “Troy Regional Medical Center remains committed to the thousands of patients and their families who have trusted the hospital with their lives for 50 years and to those who will trust our service in years to come.”
The 50th Anniversary Celebration will salute the physicians, employees, volunteers and board members who have served TRMC and the extended Troy community over the 50 years.
Herring said the community is invited to join the hospital board and staff Wednesday as TRMC looks back on its storied past and forward to its continuing mission of providing quality healthcare here at home.
