Troy hosts bingo, movie nights

By Lauren Johnson

Downtown is the place to be this month for residents looking to have some summer fun.

The City of Troy is hosting bingo nights tonight and June 27 on the Square for the whole family.

“We started Downtown Bingo last spring, and it has been a hit from the beginning,” said Leigh Anne Windham. “It is definitely a family-friendly fun event.”

Jessica Phillips said she loves coming to bingo nights with her family, including her 3-year-old daughter Skye.

“Our family loves bingo nights on the Square. It’s such a fun and inviting atmosphere,” Phillips said. “My daughter Skye will quickly remind us on Thursdays that it is something that we can’t miss.”

Windham said the bingo nights will be on break during July and August due to the heat, but will resume in September.

Downtown movie nights are also hosted at least once a quarter. The next showing will be The Lego Movie 2 this Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

“This is a free event, and everyone is welcome,” Windham said. “We encourage the kids to dress up in their favorite superhero costumes and come out and enjoy the movie.
