Fire departments across Pike County responded to multiple chicken houses on fire in the Henderson area early Sunday morning.
Hughey Stephens, chief of the Henderson Volunteer Fire Department, said his crew responded at approximately 1 a.m. Sunday within five minutes of being called to the scene.
“There were a total of four chicken houses on fire,” Stephens said. “Nobody was inside, but the structures were a total loss. We worked for probably three hours knocking out the fire, keeping it from getting in the nearby woods.”
Henderson was joined by Goshen, Spring Hill, Brundidge, Hamilton Crossroads and Troy fire departments.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
