Elizabeth Gilchrist Baker

Elizabeth Gilchrist Baker, 96, a resident of Troy, died Monday, April 8, 2019. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Troy with the Brother Geoffery Spann officiating and Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at First Baptist Church of Troy.

Elizabeth is preceded in death by her husband, Harry F. Baker; her parents, Gilbert and Tollie Gilchrist; her siblings, William A. Gilchrist, John W. Gilchrist, Jesse O. Gilchrist, Mary Alice Spurlin, Terry C. Gilchrist, Maxwell Gilchrist, Nell G. Wise, Tula G. Nichols; and daughter-in-law, Cindy C. Baker.

Her survivors include her sons, Ronnie A. Baker (Carolyn) of Troy, Joe G. Baker (Hope) of Prattville, Jerry T. Baker (Libby) of Fayetteville, Georgia; grandchildren, Britt A. Baker (Amy), Brandi B. Pouncey (Dusty), Adam T. Baker (Ashley), Johanna B. Hines (Robert), Mandy B. Huff (Jon), Alison B. Darby (Matt), Rebecca B. Merrion (Paul); 16 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be Britt Baker, Dusty Pouncey, Adam Baker, Robert Hines, Jon Huff, Matt Darby, and Paul Merrion.

The family would like to issue a special thanks to Jimmy and Dale Law, Clare Lawrence, the staff at Noble Manor, and the faithful sitters who helped care for her.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to First Baptist Church of Troy, Gideons International, Hospice Compassus of Troy, or the charity of your choosing.
