Man charged with rape

Troy police have arrested a man suspected in the rape of a Troy woman on March 24.

Police arrested Richard Alexander Davidson, 20, of Tallassee, on Friday on a charge of first-degree rape.

Troy Police Chief Randall Barr said the arrest comes after police responded to a report of a rape on March 24.

“Officers responded to Troy Regional Medical Center, where they met with the victim, 20, who advised that she had been raped at a residence in the 100 block of Nat Avenue. Davidson was identified as the suspect in this case,” Barr said. “Investigators responded and processed the scene. Several items were collected as evidence and have been sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Science for processing.”

Davis has been booked into the Pike County Jail on a bond of $25,000. First-degree rape is a Class A Felony punishable by 20 years to life in prison.
