In October 2009, Abby Johnson walked out of the Planned Parenthood clinic she managed down the street to join the Coalition for Life.
The story of how Johnson went from the youngest clinic director in Planned Parenthood history to full-time pro-life advocate has been made into a major motion picture and Sav-a-Life of Troy will offer residents a chance to see the premiere of the movie tonight in advance of its weekend release.
Sav-a-Life has partnered with Continental Cinemas to screen the movie at the local theater, where Executive Director Jane Ward said there will be red carpet premiere.
“Anyone who keeps up with the movement would know (Johnson) had been an abortion clinic director and experienced something that changed everything and convinced her to become pro-life with the same passion that she served the pro-choice movement,” Ward said. “She channeled that energy and passion into serving the pro-life movement.”
Ward said she is excited to be seeing the film for the first time herself. “I’ve only seen the trailer, but it was enough to convince me we needed to have this movie in Troy,” Ward said.
Tickets are on sale now for $10 each at the Sav-a-Life office at 523 S. Three Notch Street while supplies last.
“Tickets are going quick,” Ward said Monday. “We’ve been getting calls all day asking if there were still tickets left. But for now, we still have tickets to sell.”
Ward said the tickets should be brought to the box office at the theater, where employees must check and print an additional ticket for their own tracking purposes.
