Patriots knock off Coosa Valley to claim Jonah McWaters championship

After knocking off Autauga 7-1 earlier on Saturday afternoon, the Pike Liberal Arts Patriots defeated Coosa Valley Academy 7-4 to claim the Jonah McWaters championship.
The win for the Patriots improves their record on the season to 10-0.
The Patriots scored all seven of their runs in the first three innings and held on late despite allowing three runs in the game’s final inning.
Clay Barron got the start for the Patriots. Barron pitched five innings and allowed just two baserunners via the walk.
Javon Christian, Levi Sikes and Jade Sikes also pitched for the Patriots.
The Patriots scored the first run of the game on a Coosa Valley error. They doubled their lead to 2-0 on a single by Jade Sikes.
The Patriots put some distance between themselves and Coosa Valley in the second when they added four more runs.
Drew Nelson had a two-run double in the inning and Davis Allen singled in Cody Hollis bringing the score to 5-0. The Patriots scored the final run of the inning in an error.
The Patriots scored their final run in the third on a home run to left by Chandler Golden.
The Patriots will be back in action on Tuesday when they host Macon East.
