A former Troy resident has been indicted on two counts of first-degree rape, two counts of first-degree sodomy and a charge of incest.

Troy Police Chief Randall Barr said a grand jury issued the indictments on Jean Senecal, 72, of Abbeville, after a direct presentment of the case during last week’s grand jury session.

Investigators with the Troy Police Department and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency arrested Senacal at his Abbeville home on Thursday.

District Attorney Tom Anderson said Senacal is alleged to have had a sexual relationship with the victim over a “period of years” and that there is video evidence in which “the victim appears incapacitated likely by involuntary means such as pharmaceuticals.”

Senecal formerly had a medical practice in Troy.

He was booked into the Pike County Jail and released on $205,000 bond.

Barr said the investigation began with the Troy Police Department on March 2018 and that the investigation crossed multiple jurisdictions and included the assistance of multiple law enforcement agencies.
