LaNola Mellert

LaNola Mellert, 82, passed away on January 7, 2018. She was preceded in death by her father, George Wilson Bragg; her mother, Swanye Kelley Bragg; and her best four-legged friend, Maddox. She is survived by her daughters, Tuesday Kelley Mellert Bigelow (Brett), Kristie Karl Mellert Frerich (John), Allison Kimberly Mellert Edwards Close (Brandon), and Krystal Ann Mellert Benton; and grandchildren, Kirstie Meighan Kelley Frego (Caleb) and Wilson Bryant Edwards. Throughout her lifetime, LaNola had various interests and hobbies. With perfect school attendance in K-12, she enjoyed various activities including : outrunning the cops, sneaking ciggies behind the school, bowling, working out before it was cool, and hitchhiking to Florida with her friends. Her hobbies eventually evolved into attending the local stock car races, Atlanta Braves and Alabama football games, and supporting President Trump! As a Southern Chef, her most requested dishes were Deviled Eggs and Cheese Grits. Her biggest and bravest endeavor can be seen in the lives of her children. Above all else, LaNola was a mother. She was her girls’ biggest fan, greatest supporter, and fiercest protector. She was dearly loved and will be deeply missed. A visitation for LaNola will be held Thursday, January 10, 2019, at Leak Memory Chapel from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held Friday, January 11, 2019, at First Southern Baptist Church of Hope Hull, at noon. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery. Donations may be made to First Southern Baptist Church in Hope Hull in memory of Wilson and Swanye Bragg.
