Troy police have arrested a man suspected of participating in the armed robbery of a Troy convenience store in November 2017.

Tyrez Mathis, 19, of Dothan was arrested and charged with first-degree robbery in connection with the armed robbery of a convenience store in the 700 block of South Brundidge Street on November 24, 2017.

“Mathis and another male suspect entered the store and made a purchase at the counter,” said Troy Police Chief Randall Barr. “As the clerk opened the register, one of the subjects produced a handgun and demanded money from the clerk. The subjects took an undisclosed amount of currency from the clerk and walked out of the store to a vehicle that was waiting nearby.”

The clerk was not injured during the robbery, Barr said.

Mathis was booked into the Pike County Jail on $50,000 bond. First-degree robbery is a Class A Felony punishable by 20 years to life in prison.

Barr said additional arrests are anticipated in this case. Troy police were assisted by the Dothan Police Department.
