Louise Huggins McDuffie, 87, passed away peacefully December 7, 2018, at Hospice of West Alabama in Tuscaloosa. She was a resident at Brookdale Senior Living for the last four years.

Born in Troy, she grew up on a farm in the Harmony community. Louise attended Troy public schools and graduated from Troy State Teacher’s College. She and her husband moved to Bay Minette in 1953. They were longtime residents and educators in North Baldwin County, living in Bay Minette then Perdido. At Perdido Jr. High, he was the Principal and she was a classroom teacher for over 30 years. She was a member of Perdido United Methodist Church.

She is survived by three children, Karenina “Kay” (John) Cook of Tuscaloosa, Geoffrey (Brenda) McDuffie of Troy, and Everett (Theresa) McDuffie of Johnson City, Tennessee;  two sisters, June (Ed) Waites of Enterprise, and Deborah (Paul) Davis of Troy;  five grandchildren, Holmes (Meg) Cook of Jackson, Mississippi, Elizabeth Cook of Tuscaloosa, Morgan McDuffie (Russell) Johnson of Troy, and Seán McDuffie and Sile (Sheila Louise) McDuffie both of Johnson City, Tennessee; and three great grandchildren, James and Wyatt Johnson of Troy, and Maeve Cook of Jackson.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Ellison McDuffie; her parents, William and Annie Laura Huggins of Troy; a sister, Dorothy Tinright, and a brother, Hubert Huggins, both of Troy.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 11, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at the chapel of Norris Funeral Home with Reverend Bob Sweet officiating. Burial will follow at Bay Minette Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 11, 2018, from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service at Norris Funeral Home.
