A man suspected in the murder of a Troy man last week has turned himself into the Troy Police Department.
Tharion Vincent Nye, 23, of Mobile, gave himself over to police at approximately 7:30 p.m. Wednesday night on an outstanding warrant of murder in the death of Rashad Montel McClaney, 25, on Saturday, November 3.
Police say an autopsy performed on McClaney’s body by the Alabama Department of Forensic Science shows his cause of death as asphyxiation.
Troy Police Chief Randall Barr said police were called to Troy Regional Medical Center at approximately 9:30 p.m. Saturday to find the McClaney had been dead upon arrival.
“Investigators discovered that McClaney had been involved in an altercation at an apartment in the 100 block of Gibbs Street with Jeremyah Deunte Howell and Tharion Vincient Nye,” Barr said.
Howell, 21, of Mobile, was arrested and charged with murder on the day of the crime. Barr said officers were able to make contact with Howell immediately following the incident and bring him in on the charge.
Howell was booked into the Pike County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact the Troy Police
