Police have arrested a Fort Deposit woman charged with stealing over $2,500 from a local bank.

Troy Police Chief Randall Barr said Rasheata Cherise Collis, 40, of Fort Deposit, provided false information to a local bank in June 2017 and obtained a loan of more than $2,500.

Collis was stopped by a state trooper on U.S. Highway 231 Monday just inside Montgomery County. Collis was a passenger in the vehicle.

“The outstanding warrant was discovered when the trooper ran her information through NCIC,” Barr said.

Collis was transported to the Troy Police Department where she was processed through the Troy City Jail and then incarcerated in the Pike County Jail. Bond was set at $10,000.

Collis is charged with first-degree theft of property, a Class B Felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison.
