Man arrested on murder charge, police seeking second suspect

Troy police have arrested one man on a charge of murder and are looking for another after a Troy man was allegedly killed in an altercation.

Troy Police Chief Randall Barr said police were called to Troy Regional Medical Center just after 9:30 a.m. where Rashad Montez McClaney, 25, had been transported by private vehicle. McClaney had already passed away upon arrival at the hospital.

“Investigators discovered that McClaney had been involved in an altercation at an apartment in the 100 block of Gibbs Street with Jeremyah Deunte Howell and Tharion Vincient Nye,” Barr said.

Howell, 21, of Mobile, has been arrested and charged with murder and police are also searching for Nye, also of Mobile, on a murder charge. Barr said officers were able to make contact with Howell immediately following the incident and bring him in on the charge.

The Troy Police Department is being assisted in this case by the Alabama Department of Forensic Science, The Pike County Coroner’s Office and The Pike County District Attorney’s Office.

Howell was booked into the Pike County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
