Elva Rhodes Strother, formerly of Troy, died Wednesday, October 31, 2018, in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her beloved family. Elva was a longtime member of the Brundidge United Methodist Church in Brundidge. She graduated from Troy Teachers College. A graveside service for Elva Strother will be held Friday, November 2, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at Lakeview Cemetery in Brundidge with reverends Ed Shirley and Michael Lawler officiating. There will not be a public visitation. Friends should gather at the cemetery at 2:00 p.m.

Her survivors include her daughter, Debbie Strother of Green Cove Springs, Florida; sons and daughters-in-law, Barron and Nancy Strother of Santa Rosa Beach and Hank and Maria Strother of Brundidge; her grandchildren, Shelli Strother (Robbie) Roberts of Santa Rosa Beach, Morgan Strother (Will) Palmer of Santa Rosa Beach, Jay (Melissa) Strother, Albany, Georgia, Erika Strother (Dean) Moncrief, Birmingham, Evan Strother, Atlanta, Elaina Strother, Auburn; her great-grandchildren, Jon Matthew Allen, Strother Allen, Will Roberts,  Annie Rose Allen, Fordham Palmer and Jack Strother and Olive Strother,

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years H.T. “Tommy” Strother; her parents, Roy and Fannie Dismukes Rhodes; sisters, Carma Lou Mcinnish and Agnes Ellis Rhodes; and brothers, Vershel Rhodes and Thurman Rhodes.

Serving as pallbearers will be Ronny Mobley, Don Dickert, Joey Strother, Mike Armstrong, Robbie Roberts, Will Palmer, Jay Strother, Jon Matthew Allen, Evan Strother and Dean Moncrief.

In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the Brundidge United Methodist Church 140 Main Street, Brundidge, AL 36010 or to the Chapel at Crosspoint, 1477 S. Country Highway 393, Santa Rosa Beach, FL 32459.
