Troy vs South Alabama watch party on the Square Tuesday

Troy Head Coach Neal Brown called the 2016 game at South Alabama “the best Sun Belt atmosphere of a game” that he could remember thanks to the 16 busses of Trojan fans that traveled to Mobile.
Brown and the Trojans will be hoping for another good showing from fans at their rival’s stadium again Tuesday, but many of the Trojan faithful will have to watch the hyped matchup from home.
While fans could watch the game on TV from the comfort of their own living rooms, the City of Troy has a way to bring fans together to share their Trojan spirit.
Based on this year’s schedule, Tuesday night’s rivalry game will be the one and only “Downtown Watch Party” on the Square for an away Troy football game.
“We wanted to do more of them, but you can only see the big screen at night and this is the only night away game that Troy had this year,” said Leigh Anne Windham with the City of Troy. “That being said, we hope we have a big turn out since this will be our only one.”
Windham said watching the game with other Trojan fans in the heart of downtown Troy provides a fun and exciting experience for fans that is more akin to watching with fellow Trojans in the stands than staying at home and turning it on the TV.
The kickoff between the Trojans and Jaguars at 7 p.m., so Windham said there is plenty of time beforehand to enjoy the shops and restaurants downtown before settling in for the game for the rest of the night.
Some chairs will be provided for fans and everyone is welcome to bring their favorite folding chairs.
