Larry Keith Doolittle Jr., 61, of Marshville, North Carolina and Troy, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, October 17, 2018.

Larry, affectionately known as “Big D,” was born April 5, 1957in Charlotte to the late Larry Keith Doolittle Sr. and Elizabeth “Lib” Philemon Hazel.

In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by step-father, John W. Hazel.

Larry worked for Hank Williams Jr. for nearly 40 years and was still employed by Mr. Williams at the time of his death. He was an avid Duke Basketball and Alabama Football fan.

He was a gentle and kind man who never met a stranger, and loved his family and friends dearly. Larry had a very generous and giving soul; and will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his mother, Lib Hazel of Mint Hill, North Carolina; brother, Stacy (Rebekah Lowder) Doolittle of Marshville, North Carolina; sister, Teresa Doolittle of Mint Hill; nephews, Cody (Danielle) Rominger and Jeremy Sizemore, all of Midland, North Carolina; and close friends, Winnie Davis and her son, Chuck (Susan) Davis of Troy;

and their children, Tyler and Grey “Buster” Davis. Esker Davis, Winnie’s husband, predeceased Larry, but was also a very close friend of Larry’s.

A memorial service to celebrate Big D’s life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 27, 2018, at his Marshville residence.

Larry had accomplished the Grand Slam of Turkeys; and in lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to National Wild Turkey Federation, nwtf.org; P.O. Box 530, Edgefield, SC 29824.
