The Saving Our Youth Organization will host College Summit 2018-2019 for seniors at Charles Henderson High School, Goshen High School and other area schools from 3 until 6 p.m. Sunday at Flo’s Kitchen at 201 Love Street.

Lashonda Martin, who with her husband Clyde, founded the Saving Our Youth Organization, said the College Summit is free for all high school seniors in the local area.

“All seniors from all districts are encouraged to attend the College Summit and to apply for the Saving Our Youth Scholarships,” Martin said. “Scholarship packets will be available at the summit. Door prizes will be awarded and refreshments will be served.”

Martin said the College Summit scholarship program is an effort to assist parents and students with the cost of college tuition.

The application is not an involved process and all seniors who want to attend college are encouraged to apply.

“The Saving Our Youth Organization presented a College Summit 2018-2019 for Pike County High School seniors in Brundidge on Sunday, October 14,” Martin said. “We were pleased to have nine applicants for the Saving Our Youth Scholarship and hope to have even more on Sunday.”

Jackie Patterson at Troy University will be the guest speaker for the College Summit.

Martin said Patterson is a strong advocate for young people and a great encourager.

“Saving Our Youth Organization is dedicated to the young people of our community,” Martin said. “We want to see them all succeed in life. Providing these scholarships is one way that we can help them along the way.”

All high school seniors who would benefit from a Saving Our Youth Organization’s scholarship program are invited and encouraged to attend the College Summit and apply for one of the available scholarships.
