Police have ruled the death of a woman that was reported missing last week a homicide.

Troy Police Chief Randall Barr said police have confirmed that a body found in  a wooded area near Pike County Road 1158 Saturday is 33-year-old Kathryn Louise Davis, who had been reported missing to the department at approximately 7 p.m. Wednesday, September 26, by a family member.

“A press release was sent out on Thursday with a photo of Ms. Davis in hopes that she or someone would provide information as to her whereabouts,” Barr said. “When no new information was received investigators combed the area around the mobile home park on Friday with a cadaver dog.”

Police found Davis’ body at approximately 9:21 a.m. Saturday and transported the body to the Alabama Department of Forensic Science for autopsy, where police confirmed that it was Davis and found reason to believe foul play was responsible for her death.

“This is now a very active criminal investigation,” Barr said. “Investigators are following up on several leads in this case.”
