Jackson Hardware in Brundidge burglarized again

Jackson Hardware on South Main Street in Brundidge has been burglarized for a second time since August 31.

Brundidge Police Chief Moses Davenport said a section of concrete block was thrown through the front window of the hardware around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday in order to gain entrance into the downtown business.

“Whoever did this, also used the same piece of concrete to break the glass on the counter,” Davenport said. “The owners are still checking to see what was taken but, at this time, it doesn’t appear anything is missing.”

Several guns were taken during the August 31 burglary.

“This time, the hardware had an alarm and it could be that whoever burglarized the store had to get out before they could get what they were looking for,” Davenport said. “There are cameras around the city, but being at night, it’s hard to specifically identify anyone.”

Davenport said there is the possibility that the person or persons involved the Wednesday night burglary could be the same as those involved in the August 31 burglary.

“But, it’s a different, MO,” Davenport said. “On August 31, whoever it was entered through the back. Wednesday night, they came through the front. But they could have done that to try to throw the investigation off.”

Davenport said the August 31 burglary of Jackson Hardware is still under investigation.

“A gun taken in the burglary has been recovered and it is providing us with a valuable lead,” he said.
