Diners at Troy McDonalds Wednesday may have noticed a group of women dressed in bonnets and dresses, alongside several men, digging a trench outside of the restaurant.

The group is the family of Joe Schwartz of Indiana, all of them Amish.

Schwartz said his family travels out to numerous McDonalds location around the country to do construction work for the restaurant chain.

The family was installing power lines for the Troy restaurant’s new digital signs Wednesday, even though the family cannot use electricity around their own home.

“For construction we can use power tools, and I have a flip phone, but we cannot use it around our home,” Schwartz said.

Anyone that missed spotting the Amish family dressed in old-time wear while working won’t have a chance to see them – Schwartz said it is also against their religion to be photographed.
