Attempted murder suspect turns himself in

A man suspected of attempted murder turned himself into Troy Police Sunday evening after police warned he could be armed and dangerous.

Troy police responded to the 100 block of St. Paul Street Saturday night around 7 p.m. and found a 30-year-old male in the front yard suffering from a gunshot wound.

James Lee Jackson Jr., 25, turned himself in Sunday after police asked for the public’s help finding the suspect.

Jackson was booked into the Pike County Jail on $50,000 bond. Attempted murder is a Class A Felony punishable by 20 years to life in prison.

The victim was transported to Troy Regional Medical Center and then transported by life flight to Montgomery for treatment of his injuries.
