Mr. Robert J. Newman, 95, a resident of Troy, died Tuesday, August 28, 2018. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 31, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel of Dillard Funeral Home in Troy with the Rev. Steve Rascoe and the Rev. Danny Arnold officiating. Interment will follow at Green Hills Memorial Cemetery in Troy. Visitation will be held Thursday, August 30, 2018, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy.

He is survived by his daughter, Emily Head (Ronnie) of Troy; son, David Robert Newman (Janice) of Talladega; four grandchildren, Mandy A. Young (Richard) of Troy, Mark Head (Kim) of Troy, Brad Newman (Amanda) of Columbus, Georgia,  and Matt Newman of Woodstock, Georgia; six great-grandchildren, Justin Young, Will Young, Kristine Head, Eli Head, Asher Newman, Selah Newman, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family.

Mr. Newman was the true definition of the term “public servant” having served as Circuit Clerk of Pike County for 27 years, and membership and officer roles in multiple civic organizations including Lions Club, Shriners and many others. He was also a long-standing member of Park Memorial Methodist Church, where he served in several leadership roles including Trustee Chairman.
