Two men were injured during an early morning shooting at the Waffle House on U.S. 231 North in Troy.

The incident took place about 3 a.m. Saturday in the parking lot of the restaurant, when two men “got into an argument,” said Troy Police Chief Randall Barr. “We’re still investigating the circumstances of the incident.”

Both men were armed with handguns, he said. “One shot, and the other man returned fire.”

Both victims were transferred by private vehicle to Troy Regional Medical Center.

“The 26-year-old man (a Troy resident) was treated and released, with a gunshot to his side chest area,” Barr said.

“The 29-year-old, who has a Goshen address, was transported to a Montgomery area hospital with serious but non-life threating injuries,” Barr said, adding he was shot at least twice.

“Both men had handguns and at least one was a semiautomatic,” Barr said, adding that he would not release more details as the incident remains under investigation.
