The Troy Belles All-Stars hosted Greenhill in the third round of the Alabama Dixie Softball State Tournament and won.
The Troy Belles team are the last Troy team alive, with the Sweetees and Darlings teams both falling in the second round.
Troy starting pitcher Morgan Bundy opened her game by striking out the side in Greenhill’s first trip to the plate.
The hosts then jumped out to an early 4-0 lead, sending nine players to the plate and six to the base paths.
The next inning featured much of the same. Greenhill was quickly sent into the field while Troy made itself at home at the plate.
Five Troy players had an extra-base hit in the second, with Stella Gilberth and Morgan Bundy each hitting a two-run double as Troy extended its lead up to 9-0.
Bundy continued to work Greenhill, striking out three of four batters in the third and upping her strikeout total to seven through nine outs.
On the other side of the inning, Troy poured in six more runs to go up 15-0. Emily Hughes had a two-run double in the inning while Emily Williamson and Avery Henderson each stole two bags on their way to scoring.
The fourth inning went by without any scoring, largely due to two Troy players being walked off the basepaths for outs for pace of play purposes.
In the final half-inning, Greenhill was sent down in order to preserve Bundy’s no-hitter and the 15-0 win for Troy.
“It’s been a good tournament so far,” Troy coach Max Bundy said following the game. “We’ve got a couple more games left to go, though.”
The hosts advance to the next round where they will play Enterprise on Sunday.
