Police responded to a burglary in progress Friday afternoon at Trojan Palms apartments, but the suspect was long gone when officers arrived.

Troy Police Capt. Danny Barron said a neighbor of the tenant came by to check on the apartment and found somebody inside that was not meant to be there.

“They actually saw someone inside, but he ran off before police arrived,” Barron said.

Barron said the neighbor described the suspect as a slender black male wearing a white t-shirt and a black backpack.

Investigators processed the scene and found some property outside the apartment, but do not yet know whether anything was actually removed from the property.

No further description of the suspect is yet available.
