The Johnson Center for the Arts has a gift for all patrons of the arts.
The gift will be available for enjoyment at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 24, in the Gibson Family Gallery in the upper level of the Johnson Center for the Arts on East Walnut Street in downtown Troy.
Wiley White, JCA exhibition coordinator, said the Birmingham Southern College Concert Choir will present a free concert at the Johnson Center Saturday afternoon and the public is invited.
“We are extremely honored to have this outstanding collegiate concert choir perform at the Johnson Center,” she said. “The concert is a unique opportunity for the community to hear the beautiful music that is the hallmark of the Birmingham Southern College Concert Choir.
White said Troy is fortunate to be included in the Birmingham Southern College Concert Choir’s Spring Tour.
The choir also has performances scheduled in Montgomery, Tuscaloosa and Columbus, Georgia before concluding with its Homecoming Performance in Birmingham.
White said she is excited that the JCA’s Mason Hamlin piano will be available for the choir’s pianist.
“This grand piano was donated to the JCA by the Troy Music Study Club,” she said. “We are always pleased to have it played and especially at this concert.”
The Birmingham Southern College Concert Choir has 30 members and is directed by Dr. Jeff Kensmore.
“We can look forward to an afternoon of beautiful music provided by a choir of very talented college students,” White said. “The Johnson Center for the Arts is not only a place where the visual arts are hung. It’s a place where we celebrate all the arts – the visual arts, music, theater and dance. We are honored to have the Birmingham Southern College Concert Choir bring the sound of music to this wonderful space.”
