The Lady Trojans of Charles Henderson gave Class 7A Enterprise a strong battle for five innings, leading 1-0 in the season opener, but the Wildcats pulled away in the late innings to take a 5-1 victory over CHHS Monday night in Troy.
“I thought we played a good game, for it being our first game, we made a few mental mistakes, but they are a good 7A opponent, but a few more hits here and there and it might have been a whole different ballgame,” said CHHS Head Coach Robin Snyder. “Pitching was really good for us all night long. We worked ahead for the most part, and that is big. When you get behind it gives the other team an advantage, but I thought our pitching was really good.”
CHHS took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning when Tucker Earles doubled and scored on a ground out by Graci WIlliams.
Enterprise got on the board with three runs in the fifth and two more in the seventh for the 5-1 victory.
Molly Kate Sanders, Emma Kirkpatrick and Sydni Garrett worked on the mound for the Lady Trojans.
Earles had two hits for CHHS, while Sidney Armstrong, Garrett, Williams and Abbie Barron had one hit apiece.
CHHS is on the road Tuesday at Opp and at home Thursday against Northview.
