Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program underway

The Pike County Extension Office is accepting applications for the Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program at 306 South Three Notch Street in Troy.
Applicants must be 60 years old and meet income eligibility requirements, said Katie Thomas, Pike County Extension coordinator.
“The vouchers are worth $30 and may be used to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables, cut herbs and honey at state certified farmers’ markets, farm stands and U-Pick operations,” Thomas said. “The applicant’s gross household income must not exceed the specified limits of the Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program.”
The income limits are $1,658 monthly for a household of one; $2,233 monthly for a house hold of two; $2808 monthly for a household of three; $3,383 monthly for a household of four; $3,957 monthly for a household of five and $4,532 monthly for a household of six.
Applications may be filled out at the Pike County Extension Office and are also on line at the http://fma.alabama.gov.
